Fifty six cottages in Maynard Terrace were lotted in groups of three, four, and five but as there were no offers the auction closed and negotiations took place privately for the houses. Several of them together with some of the other lots were withdrawn, were disposed of, and negotiations are proceeding in regard to the others. Clutton Bridegroom – Wedding of Mr. D. W. Baber and Miss W. E. Collins
A gown of heavy white satin, with a veil and wreath of lilies, and shoes and hose to tone were worn by Miss Winifred E. Collins, the second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Collins, of Timsbury Basin, at her wedding at Holy Trinity Church, Paulton, on Monday. to Mr. Dennis W. Baber, the second son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Baber, of Maynard Terrace, Clutton. The Rev. Keith Jack (Vicar
of Paulton) officiated.
The bride, who was given in marriage by her brother, Mr. L Collins, carried a shower bouquet of pink carnations and fern, the gilt of the bridegroom.
She was attended by three maids. Miss E. Collins (sister of bride), Miss K. Bourton (cousin of the
bridegroom. and Miss Glenda Collins (niece of the bride). The two former wore dainty dresses of blue taffeta, with head-dresses and silver shoes to tone, and carried muffs, with a spray of carnations. The other bridesmaid wore a dress of shell pink, with headdress to and white shoes, and carried a posy. The flowers were the gifts of the bridegroom.
The best man was Mr. F. Baber (brother of the bridegroom). On leaving the church the bride was presented with two silver horse shoes, one by her mother and other by Master Malcolm Selway (nephew of the bridegroom).
The reception was held at the home of the bride's parents, and both bride and bridegroom received a number of useful and costly presents, which included a cheque and a chrome fern bowl from the bride's fellow-work-mates, and girl friends at Messrs. Purnell's, Ltd., Paulton.
Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Baber have taken up their homes at 31, Maynard Terrace, Clutton.
