Fifty six cottages in Maynard Terrace were lotted in groups of three, four, and five but as there were no offers the auction closed and negotiations took place privately for the houses. Several of them together with some of the other lots were withdrawn, were disposed of, and negotiations are proceeding in regard to the others. Midsomer Norton Bridegroom – Bank Holiday Wedding at Clutton
The wedding took place on Monday at St. Augustine's Church, Clutton, between Mr. Frederick Wm. Rose, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Rose, of Midsomer Norton, and Miss Vera Ellen Edwards, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Edwards, of Maynard Terrace.
The Rev. James Mansfield officiated. Mr. Percy Gibbs, of Old Mills, was at the organ.
The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, Mr. Robert Edwards, wore a dress of delphinium blue marocain, beige hat, shoes and hose to match, and white crystal beads. She carried a bouquet of pink carnations.
She was attended by three bridesmaids. Miss Winifred Edwards (sister of the bride), and Miss Barbara Cook (nice of the bride) , and Miss Joan James (cousin of the bridegroom). Miss Edwards was attired in primrose floral georgette dress, hat and shoes to tone, and wore pink and gold necklace. She carried bouquet of pink sweet peas. Miss B.
Miss B. Cook and Miss J. wore peach floral crepe-de-chine frocks, patent ankle-strap shoes and socks to with head dresses of pink rose buds. Each had a bouquet of pink sweet peas, and a silver and crystal necklace.
The best man was Mr. Lloyd Simmons, friend of the bridegroom.
A reception was held at the home of the bride
The bride's travelling outfit included a Margaret Rose pink dress and hat to tone.
