Fifty six cottages in Maynard Terrace were lotted in groups of three, four, and five but as there were no offers the auction closed and negotiations took place privately for the houses. Several of them together with some of the other lots were withdrawn, were disposed of, and negotiations are proceeding in regard to the others. The Wedding took place on Saturday at St. Augustine’s Church, Clutton, of Mr. Reginald Edward Slee, only son of Mrs. Slee and the late Mr. Slee, of Westmorland, and Miss Florence Mary Ashman, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Ashman, of Maynard Terrace, Clutton. The rector, the Rev. James Mansfield, officiated, Mr. L. Mitchard playing the organ. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore an ankle length dress of beige lace with coatee to match. The bridesmaids were Miss Ivy Ashman, sister of the bride, and Miss Grace Durbin, cousin of the bride. They wore lemon floral silk dresses. Mr. John Simpson, of Westmorland, was the best man. The honeymoon is being spent touring Somerset.

Bridegroom of Bishop Sutton – Miss Ivy Ashman weds Mr. K. Collier.
The wedding took place at St. Augustine's Church, Clutton, between Miss Ivy Ashman, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ashman, 51, Maynard Terrace, Clutton, and Mr. Kenneth Collier, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Collier, of Wick Road, Bishop Sutton. The Rev. J. Mansfield officiated.
The bride was given in marriage by her father, and charming in a frock of white satin beaute, with orange blossom wreath, veil, shoes and hose to tone. She carried a sheaf of pink carnations.
Her sister, Mrs. B. Hearse, was matron of honour, and was dressed in blue with a silver spray in her hair, and carried a sheaf of white chrysanthemums. Miss Jean Charles in pink acted as train bearer. The gifts of the bridegroom to them were beads and bracelets.
Mr. Arthur Haig was best man.
A reception was held at the bride's home, where over 30 guests attended the wedding festivities, after which the happy couple left for their home in East Harptree

Funeral of Mr. Joe Ashman
Many people in Clutton and the neighbourhood learned with sincere regret death of the death of Joe Ashman, of 51, Maynard Terrace, Clutton.
Although a native of Farrington Gurney, Mr. Ashman had resided for a great part of his life at Clutton, where he was well-known and highly respected. He was particularly well known among the
farmers in the district.
Mr. Ashman, who was 76, served in the Somerset Light Infantry from 1901 until 1918.He was wounded and gassed during the First World War.
He was a loyal member of the British Legion for many years, and, about three years ago, received a certificate from the British Legion in appreciation of hi services.
The funeral was conducted by the Rev. C. W. Daniel, at St. Augustine’s Church, Clutton.
Family mourners were : Mr. Mrs. T. Ashman, Mr. and Mrs. J. Ashman (sons and daughters-in-law); Mr. and Mrs. B. Hurst, Mr. and Mrs. K. Collier, Mr. and Mrs. R. Slee (sons-in-law and daughters); Miss Jennifer Collier, Mr. Geoffrey Ashman, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hurst, Mr. Michael Hurst (grandchildren).
Among many others paying their last respects were Jane (family friend); Mr. and Mrs. R. Ford, Mr. Luther Edwards, Mr. Randall, Mrs. Dando. Mr. and Mrs. Durbin, and Mrs. Durbin (senior).

Clutton, in St. Augustine’s Church, Clutton.
Mrs. Ashman died at the home of her daughter. Mrs. Ivy Collier, after a short illness.

Youdle Rose Elizabeth of 51, Maynard Terrace, Clutton, Bristol, passed away at Manor Hospital, Bath on Saturday, June 8, aged 67 years. Cremation will take place at Haycombe Cemetery, Bath at 2:40 on Wednesday, June 12. No flowers, but donations may be made to the Clutton Church Restoration Fund and forwarded to the Rev. Jones.
